Complaining, strife, and discontentment:
v God does not have any pleasure in those that complain.
Numbers 11:1 And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord: and the Lord heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the Lord burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
v Neither does he take pleasure in strife --- eritheia (er-ith-i'-ah) --- those who would cause division or contention (disagreement/debate)
· Proverbs 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
matstsâh (mats-tsaw') --- quarrel: - {contention} {debate} strife.
· Proverbs 17:19 He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
v Discontentment – with God’s provisions is dangerous
Numbers 11:4 And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat? 5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick: 6 But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
Numbers 11:33 And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord smote the people with a very great plague.
God’s people have need to learn contentment
· Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
· 1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.…
· 1 Timothy 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
· Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
